Opportunities
Why join Applied Intuition?
Strong business model
Even in difficult economic times, our business has been generating profitable revenue due to diversified customers, products, and markets.
Customer impact
All of our software engineers work directly with customers and are owners of key products and features. A tight feedback loop allows us to be aligned with our customers’ needs to provide top-tier products.
Technical challenges
We are building cutting-edge technology to improve complex problems in autonomy. Our work allows our software engineers to gain exposure to every part of the stack and avoid silos.
Mentorship
Work with automotive experts and industry leaders from top schools and companies who are readily available to provide feedback and mentor other engineers.
Growth
We encourage career development by offering optional team changes every six months and promoting top performers to technical leads or managers.
In-person culture
We work in the office five days a week to build a successful business and strong team culture with social events, clubs, and other activities.
Hero projects
Every new Applied Intuition team member completes a hero project—a sizable piece of work to be completed in your first few months. This project has a blend of mentorship from team members paired with the autonomy to make your own decisions on the approach, design, and implementation. Above all, you’ll make an immediate impact on Applied Intuition’s business.
Portrait of Stephanie
Stephanie
Previously at UC Berkeley, Roblox, Meta
Project goal
Enable Validation Toolset users to perform advanced data analysis on simulation and drive data with a lower barrier to entry.
Solution
Build an in-product interactive Python notebook product enabling customers to perform advanced data analysis on available data (e.g. simulation results, drive log data, tick-level stats, etc).
Impact
Enables customers to set up custom ETL pipelines for curating datasets for use in downstream dashboards
Scheduled notebooks were incorporated into production workflows to curate datasets for downstream use in executive-level dashboards
Notebooks now play a central role in key workflows for internal customers, supporting the materialization of datasets that simplify dashboard complexity and enhance query performance
Learnings
Leverage the expertise of others on the team and ask questions frequently
Invest time into consistent end-to-end testing and ensure high unit test coverage
Keep customer engagement and interest high during feature development and have customer needs drive product decisions
Jarod
Previously at Brown, NASA
Project goal
Create a flexible and user-friendly tool to generate traffic (i.e., a large number of vehicles on the road).
Solution
Optimized behaviors and intelligence models at scale, and added workflows and map interactions to make traffic more user friendly.
Impact
Faster and easier creation of complex traffic scenarios
More powerful scenario variations, leveraged for things like synthetic dataset generation
Learnings
Always ask for help
If something you’re trying to do doesn’t work, adjust quickly and keep a sense of humor
Michelle
Previously at MIT, Uber, Samsara
Project goal
Give Data Explorer users the ability to performantly stream multiple cameras in Strada.
Solution
Build a new UI for viewing multiple cameras simultaneously in tiles and improve the performance of synchronized camera streaming.
Impact
This camera-first visualizer is central to sales demos of Data Explorer
Data Explorer customers use this feature extensively to triage drive logs
Since her hero project, Michelle has continued to work on scaling performant playback of drive log data
Learnings
Ask lots of questions and don’t be shy about posting in public channels; everyone wants you to succeed
Prioritizing tasks correctly is key to having a lot of impact
Have fun!
Applied Research
The goal of our AI Research team is to architect the next generation of vehicle intelligence and shape the future of autonomy as it begins to enter every part of our world — while publishing cutting-edge research in the process.
Some of the problems we’re tackling:
Multimodal Foundation Models – Vision, language, and action (VLA) foundation models power both onboard end-to-end stacks and offboard simulation/data engines for scalable, generalizable autonomy and robotics
Reconstruction & World Models – Scalable 3D/4D reconstruction and world foundation models enable closed-loop simulation for training and evaluation using large-scale real-world and internet data
RL, Reasoning & Post-Training – Reward-driven closed-loop post-training with RL and reasoning aligns pretrained autonomy/robotics stacks with human preferences and enhances robustness

Hear from the team
“During my rotation to Korea, I got the opportunity to help our customers there expand their autonomy development and testing life cycle. Beyond my role as a software engineer, I learned to deliver technical wins in pre-sales customer meetings, align customer success criteria with our product milestones, and communicate effectively across languages and cultures. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring outsized impact to a different region, and to grow as a person in both work and non-work contexts.”
