Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, Applied Intuition operates at global scale. We have offices in Washington, D.C.; San Diego; Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Ann Arbor, Michigan; London; Stuttgart; Munich; Stockholm; Gothenburg, Sweden; Bangalore; Seoul; and Tokyo.
Our use cases
Applied Intuition is powering the future of Physical AI, building tools and infrastructure, operating systems, and autonomy for the automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture industries.
Our team
Software, simulation, and automotive experts with experiences from the top autonomy programs.
Opportunities
Why join Applied Intuition?
Strong business model
Even in difficult economic times, our business has been generating profitable revenue due to diversified customers, products, and markets.
Customer impact
All of our software engineers work directly with customers and are owners of key products and features. A tight feedback loop allows us to be aligned with our customers’ needs to provide top-tier products.
Technical challenges
We are building cutting-edge technology to improve complex problems in autonomy. Our work allows our software engineers to gain exposure to every part of the stack and avoid silos.
Mentorship
Work with automotive experts and industry leaders from top schools and companies who are readily available to provide feedback and mentor other engineers.
Growth
We encourage career development by offering optional team changes every six months and promoting top performers to technical leads or managers.
In-person culture
We work in the office five days a week to build a successful business and strong team culture with social events, clubs, and other activities.
Hero projects
Every new Applied Intuition team member completes a hero project—a sizable piece of work to be completed in your first few months. This project has a blend of mentorship from team members paired with the autonomy to make your own decisions on the approach, design, and implementation. Above all, you’ll make an immediate impact on Applied Intuition’s business.

Map Toolset: Our team has built a product that allows users to create, edit, and manage the maps that they use for simulation.
Hero Project
Building map editing tools for autonomous parking and integrating these tools into a pipeline that allows users to turn parking lot maps drawn from scratch into 3D synthetic data for training an autonomous parking stack.
Impact
  • At the time, several of our customers had switched from highway/onroad ADAS to developing automated parking packages, and they needed completely new capabilities from our products. Before this hero project, it wasn’t feasible to do parking simulation in the Applied Development Platform (ADP) – after, it became possible to create parking maps in a few clicks and generate thousands of frames of synthetic data from them.
Learnings
  • I developed close relationships with several of our customers and through them, learned so much about why this parking use case was so different from other areas of autonomy.
  • Since my project was one piece of a larger pipeline to create synthetic training data for perception modules, I ended up working cross-functionally and getting to know our other products super well.

Vehicle Hardware Systems: We own mechanical design and integration of autonomy hardware (sensors, compute, power) across every vehicle platform Applied deploys.
Hero Project
Mechanical integration of compute and power architecture into a new vehicle platform to enable L2++ development.
Impact
  • Delivered a clean, modular, serviceable trunk-mounted subsystem.
  • Unified BOM across mechanical, electrical, and software stakeholders, reducing integration conflicts.
  • Established mounting and routing standards that carried forward to future platforms.
  • Allowed software teams to start calibration, data collection, and testing self driving software.
Learnings
  • Learned to move fast in ambiguity — knowing when to make a call vs. pull in others.
  • Learned to increase CAD efficiency and speed via in-context modeling.
  • Documentation is not optional but rather a huge part of the deliverable.
  • Identified the thermal needs of each individual components with stress testing.

Project goal
Diagnostics: We develop industry specific and custom features to analyze performance of our platform software.
Solution
FW Tracing: Development of a runtime firmware tracing framework to monitor system performance, log fault events and display using popular user interfaces like Perfetto. This is similar to the “ftrace” tracing framework in linux.
Impact
  • Before this implementation it was challenging to know the system behavior in runtime, trace root cause of bugs and analyze performance impact.
  • Using tracing infrastructure developers can log periodic and specific events in FW and improve their features. Furthermore, in future this would help in tracing production cars by collecting detailed runtime information.
Learnings
  • Use of file system, TCP/IP stack and protobufs serializing libraries in embedded environments.
  • General RTOS concepts and how to use various intricate functionalities supported by freeRTOS.
  • Most importantly, the importance of developing a scalable system that can handle large volumes of data without impacting general system performance.
Applied Research
The goal of our AI Research team is to architect the next generation of vehicle intelligence and shape the future of autonomy as it begins to enter every part of our world — while publishing cutting-edge research in the process.
Some of the problems we’re tackling:
  • Multimodal Foundation Models – Vision, language, and action (VLA) foundation models power both onboard end-to-end stacks and offboard simulation/data engines for scalable, generalizable autonomy and robotics
  • Reconstruction & World Models – Scalable 3D/4D reconstruction and world foundation models enable closed-loop simulation for training and evaluation using large-scale real-world and internet data
  • RL, Reasoning & Post-Training – Reward-driven closed-loop post-training with RL and reasoning aligns pretrained autonomy/robotics stacks with human preferences and enhances robustness
